It is with some excitement that I invite those of you working in Bath-based businesses and charities to consider participating in this year's Bath Future Talent Programme. I am privileged to have been appointed by Bath Bridge, a local community interest company, to step into Dr Tracey Stead's shoes, my predecessor, as Programme Director as we enter our fifth year.
Founded by Lee Sears, former Bath Bridge Director, in 2015, and then successfully taken forward and further developed by Tracey, I have inherited a unique, world-class leadership development programme that some of our Alumni describe as nothing less than life-changing. The ongoing success of this programme over the last four years means that it sells itself, or I should say, our Alumni sell it for us.
A programme designed by the city, for the city and for those working and building their careers in the city, it is delivered by a highly qualified and skilled network of consultants, coaches and senior business mentors.
The Future Talent Programme offers you, as one of Bath's rising stars and future leaders, an opportunity to participate in an exciting and engaging personalised development journey. The Programme brings together early career leaders and managers from all sectors - global, local and the third sector. Running between May and November each participant benefits from:
Four taught modules of 1.5-2 days each covering a wide range of topics, theories, tools and practical techniques/approaches on being an effective leader
Four one-to-one coaching sessions with a highly experienced coach
Two mentoring sessions with a senior business mentor
A personal strengths assessment report
Involvement as part of a project team to contribute to a social community project or initiative
Engaging with highly experienced and successful national and local leaders
Peer learning with colleagues from a wide range of Bath-based organisations
Becoming part of our Beyond the Bridge Alumni community to continue your development after the programme
During the programme, you will be:
exploring and developing your understanding of leadership including what skills, attributes and behaviours make an effective leader
learning about different leadership styles to help you gain insight into your own, and what type of leader you aspire to be
identifying and considering leadership challenges and develop your 'leadership toolkit' through an introduction to models, tools, techniques and approaches to address these challenges
working with your peers to develop your reflective practitioner skills
exploring your role as a leader within the context of your own organisation's purpose and values
gaining detailed insight into your own strengths as a leader and consider how you can best utilise these to achieve peak performance
starting to build your own resilience as a leader and manage your health and wellbeing
identifying the next steps in your leadership journey for beyond the programme
To date, the programme has been pleased to welcome participants from a wide and diverse range of Bath-based organisations including Bath Rugby, Mayden, Altran, Curo, Bath Spa University, St Johns Foundation, National Trust and Off the Record. Many of these participants now make up our Beyond the Bridge Alumni Network, and are continuing their learning journey and extending their connections across the city.
Why not consider joining this year's cohort and embark upon your own leadership development journey in 2020?
I would be delighted to meet with you and your organisation to find out more about your development needs, and tell you more about The Bath Future Talent Programme 2020.
